Course Overview:
Students will be enrolled in this class for the entire year, and The Glencoe Literature Anthology will serve as the basis of the curriculum, and within the textbook, we will cover units on Literary Terms as we read short stories and poetry as well as the well-known excerpt from classic pieces of literature, such as "Anne Frank" and "Flowers for Algernon." Along with the textbook, we will also read two novels on the iPad: Jack London's Call of the Wild and Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None. Students will also enhance their skills in spelling and vocabulary as well as both creative writing and formal writing in proper paragraph and essay formatting.
Course Highlights:
We will be reading personal reading books from various genres each month to complete reports on. We will also have several writing projects and presentations, in which students will be able to explore topics that they are interested in researching.
